TV Day initiative on January 29 has got an overwhelming response from our readers. Celebrities, too, support the idea of taking time to spend with your family, explore your suburb or even just walk down Marine Drive. “Mumbaiis a beautiful city. In our daily routine we have forgotten how to find pleasure in small things. The idiot box is a major hindrance in these simple pleasures,” said actor Deepika Padukone. “I really appreciate HT’s initiative and would urge people to step out of their daily routine, may be go for a walk, read a book, plant a fewtrees or even meet friends and family.”

For filmmaker Kiran Rao, looking for locations for Dhobi Ghat, her upcoming movie, made her explore the city. “I have lived in Mumbai for 15 years and I never really saw it till I started looking for locations for Dhobi Ghat. I visited such amazing places that sometimes I could not believe that it was Mumbai. Through HT’s initiative you are getting a chance to rediscover this city. Go out, go to unusual places, explore and for once don’t just sit in your hall and watch TV,” said Rao.

Readers seemed to have already decided howtheywould spend January 29 and our inboxes are filled with pledges. “I want tomyfamily the skyline from Nariman Point at night, which we have not seen for years,” said reader Alltaf Yavar.
