“Chennai brings several fond memories to my mind,” says Deepika Padukone, who in the heart of hearts believes, “I am a South-Indian girl.” The gorgeous actress who was in the city recently to launch the anti-hair fall shampoo by Fiama Di Wills. “I have been in Chennai on many modeling assignments which means, on most occasions I have zipped in and out of the city. Never got to spend quality time, but, yes, I love the beach. Now beaches are beaches and I would not like to compare them with the Juhu beach of Mumbai,” she chuckles. And what is the one thing she loves and admires in this city? “Rajinikanth — am looking forward to the release of Robot,” she says. It is a known fact that Deepika started her film career with a Kannada movie — Aishwarya.
Considering that, when I ask her, on whether she is keen on taking up film projects in the South-Indian industry, she says, rather assertively, “I would love to do a film with Rajinikanth.” In the seven odd years of her film career so far, Deepika has had a shot at different kinds of roles — be it playing double roles, action, romance and special appearances. Now she is looking forward to a period thriller directed by Ashutosh Gowariker “Working with him is indeed a learning experience. It is set for release in December. Break Ke Baad will release in November. I have done variety of roles in my short career. I sported a retro and a modern look in Om Shanti Om for instance. In Chandni Chowk To China, I have done action sequences as well. I love experimenting with roles,” she says.
Considering celebrities are keen on sports and her father also being a sportsperson, does she plan to own an IPL team sometime in the long run? “(Laughs). My business skills are not that good. But yes I do love sports and my dad is my biggest inspiration, role model and everything in the world. I know I cannot be an actor all my life. I will think about something else.”

“Happy Birthday RK!! wishing u loads of happiness & success...and good luck with AA (Anjaana Anjaani)...:-)” Deepika posted on her twitter page.

Did Deepika Padukone catch Ranbir Kapoor red-handed?
The candour with which Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor opened up about their relationship to a magazine at the time when they started going around is easily matched, if not outdone, by the frankness with which Deepika has been talking about her relationship gone kaput after the break-up.
In the September issue of Verve magazine, Deepika says when she commits to a relationship, she’s fully into it.
“For me, sex is not just about physicality; there are emotions involved. I have never cheated or strayed when I’m in a relationship. If I’m going to be fooling around, why would I be in a relationship?” Deepika said.
Talking about infidelity she’s faced in her relationships, Deepika said she’s caught her boyfriend cheating on her red-handed. Mind you, Deepika doesn’t take any names. But the tenor of her statements reveals a lot.
“The first time he cheated on me, I thought there was something wrong with me or the relationship, but when someone makes a habit of it, you know the problem lies with him. Yet I was foolish enough to give him a second chance because he begged and pleaded, despite the fact that everyone around me said he was still straying. I guess I really wanted to believe in him. Then I actually caught him red-handed. It took me a while to get out,” she said.
How many of you think she’s talking about Ranbir?

The friend says that Padukone plans to indulge in water sports. "She was already talking about doing various adventure sports like parasailing and jet skiing, even before leaving for the vacation."
Says Deepika "I decided on a vacation as I have been able to spend time with my family, of late. Luckily, I have a little free time. I'm very excited. It's the first I'm taking in many years." As an afterthought, she adds, "It is always important to unwind."

Deepika On A Dream Run
White and gold. Pristine beaches. Lots of flowers.... And the right guy with her values and beliefs! Verve’s Cinderella-for-the-day, Deepika Padukone, has a chat with Rukhmini Punoose about her expectations from life, love and a fairy-tale wedding
The moment has all the drama of a fairy tale. The lighting is dramatic. The sweeping staircase is a throwback to all the splendid Baroque staircases that have always played host to fleeing damsels. The grandfather clock’s hands are ominously pointing to a little after 12. And even the jewelled shoe sits patiently on a stair, just waiting to be discovered.
The only discordant note is ‘Cinderella’ herself. Barefoot and dressed to devastate in a rich purple Suneet Varma gown, she looks every inch the princess. However, unlike the stately princesses of yore, this Cinderella is grinding her derrière to the beat of trance music. She’s so into the rhythm that she doesn’t notice the spontaneous smiles that break out on the faces of the watching light and cameramen, make-up artists and photographers.
That is Deepika Padukone for you. So real that, even in the midst of a buzzing bridal fashion shoot (even as eager hands fete and fawn as they zip her remarkable curves into corsets and lehngas from Couture Week), she has the ability to escape into a private sanctuary and just be.
So there she is, busy gyrating, as make-up artist Mickey Contractor waves his magic wand at her and photographer Dabboo Ratnani casts his spell. There is little doubt that Padukone knows she’s beautiful. But the knowledge sits lightly on her shoulders; she really hasn’t internalised it at all. Instead, she has the inherent pride of a wild thing, who instinctively knows its beauty.
However, it is also clear that it’s not just her magnificent looks that power Padukone. She draws her proud confidence from some other secret internal source, something as basic as a tremendous sense of security about who she is and where she has come from, and most significantly, where she wants to go.
That same sense of grounding comes to the fore as she tries on one opulent outfit after another, “I know that while I want a beautiful fairy-tale wedding, I’m not going to spend senselessly on it. I’d rather have a lavish honeymoon and go around the world,” she says dimpling.
She knows that her plunge into Hindi cinema and the subsequent fame it has brought, has forced her to forfeit a small wedding. “It’s not possible any more to have only 30 people at my wedding, but I know I want a very personal affair. I think I’d like a destination wedding on a beach, maybe the French Riviera, where the theme is white and gold,” she says excitedly and then exclaims, “Oh god, I’m building all these castles in my head. I hope they come true! You normally don’t get what you ask for.”
She also wants wide open spaces with greenery, which is no surprise considering she was raised in lush Bengaluru. The wedding she draws inspiration from is her cousin brother’s in Florida last year. “They had booked an entire resort and everyone stayed there. There were gardens and waterfalls everywhere. But what I liked the most was, that it was a lovely Arya Samaj ceremony where they had printed booklets with the details of what the mantras meant so everyone understood the sanctity of the vows,” she says earnestly.
However, Padukone isn’t going to settle just for the traditional saat pheras. And she isn’t particularly enthused about the Punjabisation of the Indian wedding. “Today, even a non-Punjabi wants to have a Punjabi wedding,” she says ruefully. She loves tradition and knows she will not stray far from her Mangalorean roots at her own wedding. But she also wants to have one ceremony in every religion, just so she can wear all the wonderful traditional outfits that go with each. “I want to wear an embroidered gharara for my nikaah with a stunning maang tikka in my hair, a flowing white wedding gown in a church and a rich lehnga for the sangeet. For the South Indian wedding, I will wear a traditional Kanjeevaram sari from Nalli with a gold belt on my waist and braid my hair with jasmine,” she says enthusiastically.
She has also thought through which designers she wants creating the wedding outfits. It’s important to her that each outfit is very different. “Tarun Tahiliani will make me a western gown style lehnga which will be my wedding outfit. I want Gudda (Rohit Bal) to create something in white, gold and silver for me because in my first year of modelling that was his Fashion Week collection and I remember thinking I wanted a wedding outfit like that. A dark maroon net sari by Sabyasachi (Mukherjee) with his Bengali aesthetic would also be lovely, as would a richly embroidered outfit by Anamika Khanna. My trousseau would be incomplete without a classic chiffon sari from Manish Malhotra because that’s what I grew up watching in his films,” she says, finally pausing to breathe.
While the wedding needs to be planned carefully and be aesthetically pleasing with lots of lilies and candles, what matters the most to Padukone is to not get so caught up in the banalities that you lose the emotion of the moment. For instance, it’s not important how the bridegroom arrives. “As long as he makes the sort of entrance where I sit up and know my groom has arrived, I don’t care if it’s in a plane or on a donkey,” she laughs, those magical eyes lighting up at the thought.
Similarly, she is unaffected by sweeping romantic gestures and gifts of her suitors. “It’s not about the bags he buys me, or the rocks, or the dinners, or the holidays he can take me on. I’m a self-made girl. I know I’ve achieved a lot already and I don’t need a man for those things. I can buy myself the most expensive bag or the biggest rock I want,” she says, adding, “For me, it has to be about being my best friend, spending quality time with me, being able to have amazing conversations together even while we are sitting in a house or a car. That he actually gets that I’m a quiet person. It would be irritating if he keeps asking me to talk and thinks I’m boring because I don’t. He has to be comfortable with the silences.”
Unfortunately, Padukone has had her share of very public relationships that have ended on a painful note. Her last, with the scion of Bollywood’s first family, is said to have ended because he was unfaithful. The inked ‘RK’ at the nape of her neck is indicative of both her optimism and her lack of cynicism in love’s impermanence. “I give a lot in relationships and don’t really expect much in return. I know it is idealistic to expect that you will get as much as you give. It rarely happens and I’m okay with that. But the man has to at least acknowledge the fact that I’m giving so much and respect me for it.”
For Padukone, who idolises her parents’ marriage for its longevity, mutual respect, balance and fidelity, cheating is a complete deal breaker. “For me, sex is not just about physicality; there are emotions involved. I have never cheated or strayed when I’m in a relationship. If I’m going to be fooling around, why would I be in a relationship? It’s better to be single and have fun. But not everyone thinks like this. Maybe that’s why I’ve been hurt in the past. The first time he cheated on me, I thought there was something wrong with me or the relationship, but when someone makes a habit of it, you know the problem lies with him. Yet I was foolish enough to give him a second chance because he begged and pleaded, despite the fact that everyone around me said he was still straying. I guess I really wanted to believe in him. Then I actually caught him red-handed. It took me a while to get out. But having done that, nothing can make me go back. That ship has sailed.”
For a 24-year-old, Padukone is wise beyond her years. It is obvious that her life experiences have shown her that making a success of a relationship can be an uphill task. “Relationships aren’t easy. They require compromise, work, patience and lots of maintenance, especially if you’re as busy as I am,” she says.
It’s not hard to imagine why some of her prior idealism seems to have chipped off, but amazingly, it hasn’t been replaced with negativity. Just with quiet determination. “I don’t believe monogamy is impossible,” she says carefully measuring every word. “And I’m willing to wait for however long it takes to find the right guy with the same values and beliefs. I never start seeing someone unless I think there is a real chance of it working out in the future and I want a person like that. Someone like me, who is in it for the long haul.” Let’s hope this Cinderella gets her happily-ever-after.
Dream guy: “There has to be physical attraction at first. He should be someone who is very confident but doesn’t have to try too hard to get my attention. I’m more a listener than a talker so I like extroverted guys.”
Shoes and bags: “Linking Road Kolhapuris. I’m going through a Tod’s phase in shoes and bags. I also like colourful Birkins in orange, pink and blue.”
Jewellery: “I love uncut jadau and traditional South Indian temple jewellery.”
Make-up: “Mickey Contractor. He understands my face and never puts too much make-up on me.”

Deepika and Farah, friends again
That Farah Khan’s hubby Shirish Kunder may have finally cast a heroine for his next Joker is interesting. But what’s even better is that it’s going to be Deepika Padukone. So, if all goes well, Akshay Kumar will be seen romancing Deepika Padukone in Joker. Clearly, Deepika and Farah have mended their differences.
It may be recalled that soon after Deepika’s debut release Om Shanti Om, the actress did not bother to keep in touch with the woman who gave her the first big break in Bollywood, Farah Khan.
After the success of her debut film, Deepika moved on with her newfound fame. She started getting projects with big banners and got so busy working on each of them that she was not left with any time to keep in touch with Farah. This had upset Farah tremendously.
But now the two have buried the hatchet.
A source close to Joker revealed, “Deepika and Shirish are in advanced talks. She is the prime contender to fill the heroine’s slot in the film.”
Apparently, on reading the script of the film, Deepika loved the character she is supposed to play. The source added, “Deepika is very excited to be backing Farah Khan’s fold. After all, it was Farah who gave her her first super hit film Om Shanti Om.”
On being asked about signing Deepika, Shirish was a bit evasive. He said, “We are currently in the process of casting the main lead opposite Akshay for Joker. Certain top names are being considered. It is a performance-oriented role. Akshay and I will take the final call in a week.”
Farah however, chose to clarify the matter. She said, “Jo bhi hua tha, it got sorted out long ago. She came for Eid to my place recently and also on my show.”
Though Deepika remained unavailable for comment, here’s a tip she may want to use: gratitude is great attitude.

It's Katrina vs Deepika
Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone slug it out to be in Akshay Kumar's next Joker. He's spoilt for choice
Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone have been at loggerheads ever since Ranbir Kapoor and it's been one big game of oneupmanship between them since then.
The latest bone of contention is Shirish Kunder's Joker, a co-production between Akshay's Hari Om Productions and Farah Khan and Shirish's Three's Company.
One has to go!
Says a source, "Deepika and Katrina both think that they are doing the film without the other knowing about it. Katrina had spoken to Akshay during the shooting of Farah's Tees Maar Khan and has taken it for granted that she is doing Joker. Deepika's inclusion in the casting is a recent development and she suits the script better. Akki is in a dilemma and is tearing his hair out figuring out the best way to tell one of the girls to take a walk."
Making it happen
Akshay's dilemma stems from the fact that while he's close to Katrina (they're a popular pair and have delivered several hits), Deepika is going out of her way to be accommodating in giving her dates.
The source adds, "Akshay has given his dates for January and Deepika can offer her dates for the month as well."
What's at stake
While Deepika is ready to negotiate her price as well, things have worked out for Katrina as well with the Dostana schedule being postponed to March. She too will be available in January. The trouble is Akki doesn't want to hurt either girl's feelings. The role is a very glamorous one and not being chosen would hurt either's prospects."
And that's why...
The source adds that, "That's why Katrina was upset about reports of Akki and her having a fallout. Kat wants the world to know that she's still very close to him."
Says Shirish, "We are in the process of casting the female lead opposite Akshay for Joker. Top names are being considered. It is a performance- oriented role. Akshay and I will take the final call in a week."
Akshay remained unavailable for comment.
KAT VS DIPPY
WE GIVE YOU A HEADS-UP!
ROUND 1
The prize: Ranbir Kapoor
How it ended: RK dumped Deepika for Kat
ROUND 2
The prize: Salman Khan film, Bodyguard
How it ended: Both lost out on the Sallu flick. Kareena Kapoor picked up the role
ROUND 3
The prize: Shirish Kunder's Joker
How it ended: Deepika appears to be the clear favourite

Ranbir Kapoor Is Not To Be Blamed For Deepika Padukone’s ‘Silence’
Ranbir Kapoor and Deepiak Padukone might have been a couple but after their break-up they never swore that they won’t be working together. Instead both have been extremely professional in their approach and maintained that if a good script and opportunity arose they were willing to work together. That did tick with film maker Anurag Basu. Deepika and Ranbir both were approached for his next venture ‘Silence’ and both gave a nod. So why did Deepika silently walked out of the film in spite of sitting through a joint narration with Ranbir?
Mumbai Mirror reports that the actors were not the demand of the characters, the casting of mentally challenged role was not that important. Anurag wanted the ex-lovers to come together for his film due to their USP. In spite of that the actors had no problem and even Deepika and Ranbir shook hands and were quite comfortable with each other during and after the narration.
Then what went wrong? According to the source it is not Ranbir to be blamed for the ‘Om Shanti Om’ actress walking out of the project. It is Anurag Basu. He just constantly changed the story of the film including Deepika’s role. So she chose to walk out of the film and keep her silence on it.
Hence Priyanka Chopra was asked to step in and she accepted the role. Anurag’s last film ‘Kites’ with Hrithik Roshan bombed at the box-office despite the hype it created prior to the release.

Why Deepika Padukone walked out of Silence
Sometime ago, it was reported that Deepika Padukone told Anurag Basu that she would sign his next film Silence, produced by UTV, only if she is paid on par with Priyanka Chopra, who is also acting in the film. But the truth of the matter is that the actress walked out of Silence.
Initially, she and ex-lover, Ranbir Kapoor, were given a joint narration. They both agreed to act in the film, despite the awkwardness it would insinuate (Deepika is now with Vijay Mallya’s son, Sidhartha).
A source close to the film told Mumbai Mirror, “Originally, Basu wanted to cast ex-lovers Deepika and Ranbir together.
During the joint narration, he even told Deepika and Ranbir that the casting of the mentally-challenged role is not so important, as he could even cast a man in that role. So, his plan was mainly Deepika and Ranbir all the way.”
Added the source, “Time and again, Deepika has announced that she has no problems working with Ranbir.
Ranbir and Deepika actually shook hands after Basu’s first narration to them. Both were very happy to get back together professionally.”
Explaining what really transpired, which led Deepika to change her mind on Silence, Deepika’s friend said, “Basu kept changing the script every now and then.
Three meetings down the line, Deepika realised that not only her role but also the entire story of the film was being changed by Basu.
Hence, she chose not to do the project. However, she was extremely professional about it. She told Basu that she was opting out.”
Deepika was thus replaced by Priyanka. Despite repeated calls and text messages, Basu and Deepika did not revert back. They chose silence.

Ranbir Kapoor Does Not Understand Love Despite Loving Deepika Padukone!
Is that a googly? No! This is precisely what the tinsel town hero claims in the latest interviews he’s given! How unromantic is that, given Deepika and Ranbir’s love affair lasted no small time and the two had even moved in together!
Ranbir says he’s yet to grow up enough to understand this overwhelming emotion. Well, we might as well remind Ranbir that love does not mean only the girl-boy love! It would have been better had he said that he does not understand the girlfriend-boyfriend stories!
In a bid to promote his latest upcoming flick, Anjaana Anjaani, he voiced that to know the purest of pure feelings – love, he would have to be playing the role of a lovelorn character more often. Does he mean to say that acting is what teaches him loving girls? Is love a matter of on screen drama for our real Ranbir?
Well, we are no one to judge Ranbir’s character as by now the upcoming girls in his life would sue keep these things in mind. For now, Ranbir is trying to fall in love, that too with an unknown… anjaani!

Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan starrer Khelen Hum Jee Jaan Sey faces the scissor
Aishwarya Rai’s hubby Abhishek Bachchan’s next flick ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ has come under the scissors as the producers have asked the director Ashutosh Gowariker to trim down his budget by 10 crores. Earlier the film was given the price of 45 crores for filming but now Ashutosh has to wrap up the proceedings within 35. Deepika Padukone plays the lead female protagonist in this patriotic period piece.
Besides, PVR (the production company) has also asked Ashutosh to keep the story within a running time of 150 minutes (2 and half hours). This may come as a major blow for his vision as the director is known to take his time to narrate his tale. Lagan had a running time of 224 minutes, Swades was 210 minutes and Jodhaa Akbar was 213 minutes while the dud ‘What’s Your Rashee’ was 211 minutes, all of the films well over 3 hours.
Now, this arrangement stems from the fact that the modern day audience is much more inclined to watching shorter films. Besides, a longer running time also cuts down the number of shows that can be screened on a given day.

Kat, Deepika book Ranbir!
Three of Bollywood's hottest girls — Katrina Kaif (the leader of the brigade), Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone — are likely to accompany Bollywood's young box office Prince, Ranbir Kapoor, on a world tour.
In the last couple of years, Ranbir's popularity in the overseas market has risen to several degrees. Trade analyst Amod Mehra confirms that, "Prakash Jha's Raajneeti did such good business abroad only because of Ranbir and Katrina. He is a huge draw with the NRIs."
Even unknown to most people, Rishi Kapoor has been getting offers for a world tour featuring his superstar son for the last couple of years. However, Rishi has steered clear of temptation and didn't want Ranbir to travel on a world concert till such time as the young actor has enough chartbusters to bring the concert venues down!
It is being suggested that the world tour is scheduled for July 2011 because it can then feature the chartbusters from several Ranbir films including Bachna Aye Haseeno, Wake Up Sid, Anjaana Anjaani and even Imtiaz Ali's Rock Star. It is said that the organisers want the Kapoor scion to be accompanied on this tour by his leading ladies Katrina, Priyanka and Deepika.
A source from overseas says, "Such is the craze for Ranbir and his teen deviyaan show that the non-resident Indians are already making enquiries about it."

Deepika Padukone is geekier than you know. Upala KBR finds out just how much
I've had male friends tell me it is kinda hot when a girl knows her way around gizmos. Even more so, when that gal is Deepika Padukone. Eat your heart out, guys. She lists her fav gadgets...
Sony cybershot camera
I always carry it with me. My bright pink one is so feminine, it catches everyone's attention immediately. Also, the sweep panorama feature is cool. It captures 270 degrees in one shot.
A mobile phone
For me it would be between a BlackBerry and iPhone. I have a BB now I am waiting for the new iPhone. Life today is impossible without a mobile phone. Much of my work happens on phone like interviews, replying to emails etc. I am a very organised person and use all the features in a phone from calendars to notepads and calculators. It's very useful for someone like me as I jot down everything that's happening in my day. For me, it's not just a phone - I run my life on it.
iPad
It's one of the newest things I have. It's the size of a notebook and very useful to carry. The speakers are very powerful. I listen to music, browse the net and play games on it. I really like the music folders feature the best. It's like a library of music, the graphics and way it looks is very beautiful. One can also download different games on the iPhone, it's easy to carry it and I just need to be in a wi-fi area to access the Internet.
Segway
I want to buy a Segway as I really like it. It's a motorized 2-wheeler vehicle to roam around even a big house or small gullies. It's battery operated and an energy saver. It's like an automatic cycle, and is good for easy maneuverability.
Nintendo WII
One can play virtual games on TV -from tennis to fishing and hockey. It's like a video game and a joystick that vibrates - giving the game a 3-D effect. Perfect for me who loves sports but can't often play outdoors.
A DVD player for the car
Strictly for backseat passengers. Right now, I have a BMW and don't have it installed but when I get a new car, I plan to get one. You attach it to the seat in front of your passenger like on a plane and it comes with its own headphones for every user.
It is the coolest gadget for girls
Hammacher Schlemmer's Electrical Adapter, as any globetrotter will tell you, having an electrical adapter is the most important - albeit perhaps the least glamorous-accoutrement in a jet-setter's valise. Gift this compact, versatile device to the girl who travels often and needs different plus sockets for her phone charger, blow dryer and iPad. It works in 150 countries.

Title Change For Deepika Padukone-Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’?
Has the failure of What’s Your Raashee? made Ashutosh Gowariker superstitious? Insiders have told Koimoi.com that the director has changed the title of his upcoming Abhishek-Deepika starrer, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, to Kheleinge Hum Jee Jaan Sey after consultation with the celebrity numerologist, Sanjay Jumaani.
Or is the declining brand value of his actors, Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, making Ashutosh feel nervous about the prospects of his film? After all, Abhishek Bachchan’s Raavan and Deepika Padukone’s Lafangey Parindey did not fare very well at the box-office. Gowariker had also launched an extensive search for the lead role in his film Buddha but is said to have given up on it for the time being, because he is unable to find a suitable actor for the lead role.
‘Kheleinge Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ is a period drama based on the Chittagong uprising of 1930 and stars Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. The film is set to release on 3rd December.

Ranbir Kapoor to tour with Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone!
Whether successful or not, the Bachchans and Khans have had their share of tours. Now it’s the turn of the young guns helmed by the present heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor. If things go as planned, the Kapoor lad will have a world tour with actresses Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra next year. The quartet, along with other stars, would most likely perform at the Bollywood concerts in cities across the world.
Ranbir’s popularity overseas has increased by leaps and bounds. His last release Rajneeti was a big hit not only in India but also abroad. NRI crowd loves Ranbir and thus a world tour is much-anticipated. This Kapoor has given five hits till now and romanced almost all the top actresses of Bollywood. The tour will most likely start in July 2011 and by then Ranbir will have enough number of hits songs to perform with stunners like Kat, Priyanka and Deepika. His Anjaana Anjaani with PC will release on September 25.
As per sources, fans abroad are already curious about the tour and have started making queries related to its dates and venues. In the past, Ranbir has never been part of any tour; however, Katrina did accompany Shahrukh Khan in his Temptations tour.
Ranbir is playing a rock singer in his next Rockstar and will be seen performing on stage in the film. It doesn’t take much effort to switch from reel to real.

No hero for Deepika Padukone?
Deepika Padukone is indeed one of the top actress in the Hindi film industry and certainly the most promising fresh talent in Bollywood, so please do not let our headlines mislead you into believing that no actor wishes to star opposite her. It's just that Vishal Bhardwaj's in the pipe line project, featuring Deepika Padukone, has failed to commence as the hunt for a hero is still on.
Those familiar with the latest happenings in Bollywood and especially those active on Twitter will know that Deepika Padukone has signed a Vishal Bhardwaj film. This was confirmed by the actress herself on her Twitter account. There was also rumour doing the rounds that her LOVE AAJ KAL co-star Saif Ali Khan had been confirmed as the lead actor.
However, this is far from true. If buzz doing the rounds in the film circle is to be believed, no actor has yet been signed opposite Deepika. As per the grapevine, Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor had been approached and even though they loved the script, but both refused, as the role that they were offered was not substantial enough to convince them to sign on the dotted line.
Well, we await eagerly to hear the official confirmation from the maverick director himself!

Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor in Sajid Nadiadwala's Next
Just days after Shahid Kapur has signed his first film Heer And Ranjha after taking on Mausam (dad Pankaj Kapur’s directorial debut), there is news that he will be paired opposite Deepika Padukone. This is the first time that the two are going to act together on screen. The film is directed by Sabir Khan who had earlier made Kambakht Ishq and will be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
Our source said, “The race for the film’s leading lady was between Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone. Sabir had earlier worked with Kareena, but when Shahid said yes to the film, the question of Kareena being a part of the film was ruled out. They then thought of Katrina but she has her hands full with current projects and she was unable to allott dates, especially since the film goes on the floors in February as reported. So, Deepika has been signed on for the film with Shahid playing the male lead. The film is a romantic comedy.

Priyanka Chopra & Deepika Padukone share ‘Dreams’
Vishal Bhardwaj is almost done with the shooting of Saat Khoon Maaf and has already started to weave new ideas for his next film. The buzz was strong that he has signed Saif Ali Khan with Deepika Padukone for his next and is not keen on repeating Priyanka Chopra with whom he has done two films on the bounce.
But Vishal has signed Priyanka once again for the film and hasn’t said good bye to Deepika as well. The film titled Dreams needs two actresses. However, the cast has another change too - its main lead Saif has walked out from the film apparently because he didn’t like the script. Strange!
Here’s a new twist to the tale. As per reports, Saif told the director that if he worked in Dreams, Vishal too would have to direct a film for his company and he (Vishal) will be provided with the script. Naturally, a maverick director like Vishal couldn’t comply with that. He generally likes to script his films.
Now for Dreams, Priyanka and Deepika are on. According to a source, “There are two heroines in the film. The male lead will now be either a fresh face or a well established star.”
Saif proved his acting mettle with his Langda Tyagi character in Vishal’s Omkara. Saying no to such a director doesn’t seem a wise decision.

Deepika nods to bake a cake for Siddhartha Mallya on his request
The intense proximity of Siddhartha Mallya and Deepika Padukone is not a hidden secret anymore. Every now and then the duo is spotted together at one or the other event. They are the ones who first ignite the fire of rumors and then keep on denying them.
Recently, Deepika posted a photo of an old oven on a micro-blogging site and wrote, “Reminds me of the days when I would come back from school and bake chocolate cake for my mum,” to which Siddhartha replied “Bake me a cake.” Then the actress responded, “Bring home the Champions league trophy and I’ll bake a cake for you and your team!”
It was the IPL only that brought Siddhartha and Deepika closer. Recently, it was heard that Mallya had booked the tickets of Lafangey Parindey for his entire staff so that they could watch his speculated girlfriend on the big screen.
Well guys come-on……..accept your love and go ahead. Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya!

Horrified Ashwarya Rai and Deepika Padukone in nude protest demand to know where CJ is
Horrified Bollywood stars Ashwariya Rai and Deepika Padukone today made an urgent phone call to Skoob Entertainment News, supposedly whilst in the nude, demanding to know the whereabouts of missing Spoof supremo Colonel Juan, the one time Bolivian revolutionary last seen in Chiswick sharing a well deserved shandy with a man known only as Doctor Fields.
"Skoob - where is the Colonel?" Rai demanded. "We need to know. That man made us who we are today and we haven't heard from him in a fortnight."
"So true," Deepika chipped in. "His story about us being papped nude by a paparazzi photo fiend has made us living legends. It's one of the all time top Spoof stories. We owe this man everything, and now we can't find him. Where has he gone?"
Indeed. Offering to do all he can to help, Skoob Entertainment News supremo, Buffty Ginslinger, promised to look into the case after a lengthy Email correspondence with legendary investigator Captain/Inspector Morse from the colonies, an honourary member of New Scotland Yard's recently founded 'Rat Squad.'
Investigations revealed that Colonel Juan - or CJ as his friends know him (both of them) - was last seen in the Chernobyl area hiding from some giant radioactive rats and ants in a Russian tea room.
He graciously informed Ashwarya and Deepika that he was merely enjoying a radioactive vacation in the Ukraine, trying to find a Communist version of Wayne Rooney, and that he would be returning to the fold soon.
"Thank God he's safe," Deepika told us. "We owe that man everything. We were really missing his false moustache and fake Bolivian military medals."
"I shall kiss the man on the mouth next time I see him," Ashwarya told us. "And kiss his blessed feet."
"But of course, not in a gay way," Deepika added.
"He's a grand old stick is CJ," Buffty Ginslinger told us. "We've all missed him since he swanned off to the Ukraine bothering those nubile young Eastern European nymphettes. And we eagerly await his return and look forward with great anticipation to his dispensing his pearls of wisdom. But not in a pornographic "come on a nubile young woman's tits" sort of way."
More as we get it.

My Kind of Holiday: Picture perfect - Deepika Padukone
For me, holidays have been a time to enjoy. When it comes to my favourite holiday destination, I would love to visit Leh in Ladakh. It's quite ironical because just as my dream was about to turn true the cloudburst played spoiler and I had to cancel my trip. I have seen it in the movies, seen lots of pictures and heard people describing it but now I want to see it for myself. There's also a place close to my heart that I would love to revisit and that is Kerala.
But if you ask me for the one favourite holiday destination I have, I have to swear by the South of France. I have already been there twice. The first was on a holiday and the second time I went there was for work; the Cannes film festival. South of France is what I would call the perfect blend of the sun, sand and the sea. It's a quiet little strip with quaint cottages dotting the entire stretch of the coastline.
A picturesque drive you will have the hills giving you company on one side and the calm water on the other. It's a beautiful sight where you get to see Nature dressed in her best. Down the drive is a mix of Italian and French restaurants. There are so many things I don't want to forget about this place. I hold many happy memories and this dates back to 2002 when I had just finished my Std X exams. I went there for a holiday with my best friends. We had planned a road trip around Europe and that was the first time I saw Nice, Cannes, Monaco and Monte Carlo. It was a strange connection; I knew I would keep coming back.

Legless dancer leaves Deepika spellbound
After winning the hearts of a million Indians during the auditions, Vinod Thakur, the legless dancer from Delhi and one of the most brilliant performers on the reality show India’s Got Talent Khoj 2, charmed the Lafangey Parindey star Deepika Padukone. Deepika and Neil Nitin Mukesh who were on the sets of the talent competition to promote their movie, were left spellbound by his act. In spite of being physically handicapped, Vinod effortlessly danced to a hip-hop number.
And it was not just the judges, but even the audience and celebrity guests who were impressed by Vinod’s act which was full of energy and fervour. It left the onlookers especially Neil and Deepika emotional. In fact, sources say, Deepika almost turned teary-eyed.
Deepika said, “Vinod is truly gifted. Even those who are able-bodied cannot match upto his zeal and talent. His performance left me speechless. In fact, I’m still amazed at his skill and performance.”

Deepika Padukone's Gorgeous Verve Cover
Talk about improvement! Deepika Padukone is doing the rounds of fashion magazines this month; Wednesday we showed you her cover on Harper's Bazaar, looking like a strict high school teacher in her Dolce&Gabbana fall 2010 dress! Well now Deepika's front page of Verve's September special bridal edition is out and this time the actress really proves that she used to be a model! Sporting a gorgeous Anamika Khanna lengha, Dips looks stunning! Inside the issue, the actress talks about 'Mr. Right,' and we think we know who it is!
In a recent interview, Deepika revealed that she is over her former beau Ranbir Kapoor ! "I am really glad that I found that inner strength to move past it all. It has made me a much better person today. I am a lot more confident about myself, I am now in touch with my inner self. I am discovering things about me that I didn't know I had. I have started doing things differently. I do different things. I want to explore new things, travel, even my approach to life has change," she said.
"Let's just say I am in a happy space. When things happen in life, they happen for a good reason. I am happy with whatever has happened in my life personally and professionally, this year. Two things could've happened. I could've allowed myself to let one experience shatter and ruin me. And the other was to stand up and get on with my life," she added.
And when Dips is in a relationship, she gives it her all, so her 'Mr. Right' is sure to be a happy man! "When I am in a relationship, I give it my all. I am totally committed and devoted. I am more giving, maybe because I am a Capricorn. I don't expect the same back but somehow in all my relationships, it has been the guy who has strayed. You can ignore something if it happens once, but if it keeps happening, you have to realize that something is wrong. And you have to decide if you will put up with that," Deepika said in the interview.

Deepika Padukone’s dream came true
Actor Deepika Padukone, who plays a freedom fighter in Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’, says playing the spirited character of ‘Kalpana’ was a dream come true.
Deepika stars alongside Abhishek Bachchan in Gowariker’s period thriller based on the Chittagong uprising during the freedom struggle.
The actress, who started her Bollywood journey with Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Om Shanti Om’, will be seen in a new look in the film.
“It is something so new and unique for me. I am very grateful to Ashutosh who thought I was capable to carry off such a powerful role. It is a dream come true and a very important film of my career,” Deepika, who was in the city to launch a designer footwear store, said.
The 24-year-old star seems to be keen on shedding her glamourous image with two back to back films. She last played a blind girl in Yash Raj’s ‘Lafangey Parindey’ with Neil Nitin and now will be seen in cotton sarees in ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’
Talking about her co-star, Abhishek, Deepika said, “He is so much fun to work with. I’m glad that I am getting a chance to work with different kinds of actors.”
’Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ is based on the book ‘Do And Die’ by Manini Chatterjee and centres around the Chittagong Uprising of the 1930s. The film has been shot mostly in Goa and Mumbai and will hit the theaters in December.
Deepika also has Kunal Kohli produced drama ‘Break Ke Baad’ with Imran Khan, which will also release in December.
