Akhtar calling Farhan, Padukone calling Deepika

The good-looking pair of this week’s release, Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone, were in for a pleasant surprise when they visited India’s No.1 radio station, Radio Mirchi, to promote their romantic thriller Karthik Calling Karthik.

The ‘odd couple’ as they have been called in Bollywood, were in a jolly mood as they joked and pulled each other’s leg on the evening show, Sunset Samosa. The man with the rockstar image, Farhan spoke fondly of his younger days, “Main badminton raquet bahut achi tarah bajata tha.” He added, “I loved films and arts but chose commerce only because my friends were taking it up.” He urged all listeners to follow their heart and not go by the herd mentality. Speaking about Farhan, the confident Deepika, who plays a Bengali girl Shonali in the film, said, “He is a fantastic dancer. He also has a great sense of humour.”

Radio Mirchi held an interesting contest for all the Karthiks in the city who could win a chance for the reel life Karthik to give them a surprise call and chat with them. But what caught the pair completely by surprise was the spontaneous call from their respective fathers, Javed Akhtar and Prakash Padukone, while they were on air. The dads asked them some impromptu questions which they most merrily answered. The upbeat music of the film seems to have become a favourite amongst listeners. Catch the foot-tapping Hey Ya.. and other tracks on Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM.
