Deepika Padukone's buys a 16 cr apartment
BeauMonde Towers, Prabhadevi. That is Deepika Padukone’s new address. The actress has bought a plush four-bedroom apartment in a 33-storey tower for a whopping Rs16 crore along with her father Prakash, a former national badminton champion. The actress’s apartment in tower B has an area of 2,776 sq ft and is very close to the Siddhivinayak temple. Deepika’s 26th floor apartment also comes with parking slots for three cars.
The actress and her father visited the property registration office at the Old Custom House in Fort on December 6 to pay stamp duty for their apartment in BeauMonde Towers, a complex with three residential skyscrapers. They paid Rs79,82,600 to register the property.
“The Padukones did not ask for special treatment. They completed the paper work in just about the same time as anybody else. However, people who were in office when the actress arrived were disappointed since they could not take her pictures,” an official from the registration office told DNA.
The property has been jointly registered in the name of Deepika and Prakash. The apartment was purchased from Sheth Developers Pvt Ltd, which constructed the property in Prabhadevi. BeauMonde Towers has a two-level podium. The complex also has two tennis, badminton and squash courts apart from open exercise decks. “Deepika, who lives with her parents in Pali Hill at present, may continue to stay there. She may have bought the Prabhadevi apartment as an investment,” a film industry source said.
Deepika’s decision to buy an apartment in Prabhadevi has taken the film industry watchers by surprise. Most stars prefer to stay in the suburbs, especially between Bandra and Andheri, since most of the studios and offices of production houses are there.
However, sources close to Deepika say the actress is not worried about the travel to the suburbs since she feels the Bandra-Worli Sea Link would make her commute easier. Besides, most of the films nowadays are shot overseas. As a result, industry sources say, upcoming high-end properties in South and Central Mumbai have caught Bollywood’s fancy recently.
“Stars who don’t have family-owned homes in the city are warming up to the idea of buying houses in upcoming real estate hubs such as Prabhadevi, Worli and Parel,” a publicist of a top Bollywood actress explained. The secretary of another actress said that those from small-town India find the prospect of owning a high-end luxury home in the island city very alluring. “Some are keen to buy apartments only as an investment option. They don’t have the desire to stay in them,” he added. A real estate agent from Fort said he had received several inquiries about properties in Worli and Malabar Hill from representatives of two top Bollywood

Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Mallya off to UK
Does this mean the couple will bring in 2011 together?
Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Mallya were spotted at Mumbai's international airport on Sunday afternoon. The couple was headed for London.
It looks like the twosome preferred to soak in the Christmas festivities here and then head for England for the New Year celebrations.
Though the actress stuck to a casual jeans look as travel wear except for her furry boots, Mallya Jr was in a leather jacket and muffler. London is freezing and Dippy certainly needs a lot of warmth!

Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Saif: Terrific Trio in Aarakshan
Katrina Kaif, Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar and Manoj Bajpayee- the cast of ‘Rajneeti’ was explosive. And after hoisting the flag of triumph with Rajneeti, director Prakash Jha is ready with the theme and cast of his next film tentatively titled ‘Aarakshan.’
As the name suggests, the film is based on the controversial government policy of making caste-based reservations while serving jobs and education. Amitabh had recently spoken of ‘Aarakshan’ in his blog and now Prakash Jha has gone ahead and unveiled the powerful cast of this film.
The film stars a slew of talented actors of the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Prateik Babbar and Manoj Bajpayee. This shall be the first time that Deepika rubs shoulders with the iconic Mr. Bachchan.
She also re-unites with her ‘Love Aaj Kal’ co-star Saif Ali Khan with whom she had brewed up an excellent chemistry in that mushy rom com. As for Prateik Babbar, he is one of the rising talents and is likely to make it big post the release of Aamir Khan starrer ‘Dhobi Ghat.
‘Aarakshan’ is likely to go on floors somewhere around 15th January, 2011 and will be shot in and around Bhopal. The film will hit theatres on 12th August, 2011.

SRK's next heroine - Priyanka, Deepika or Katrina?
Shah Rukh Khan's next film, a screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's TWO STATES to be directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, has been announced and the field is wide open for a leading lady to be signed opposite him. Now that makes for an interesting pairing as it wasn't too many weeks ago when names like Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone were thrown around.
"This would indeed be an interesting development for sure due to many reasons", says an industry insider, "First and foremost Vishal has already worked with Priyanka in two back to back films - KAMINEY and 7 KHOON MAAF. While there is a pro in the form of a comfort factor that has set in between the two, the con comes from the fact that Vishal too may want to work with a new face now."
"Similarily, Shah Rukh is already working with Priyanka in DON 2 and hence the pro and the con is on similar lines as Vishal", she continues, "On the other hand he and Deepika haven't worked together since OM SHANTI OM and if the duo comes together, it would be one reunion that would be much talked about."
This is not all as Sonakshi Sinha and Katrina Kaif too haven't worked with Shah Rukh Khan till date and together, they may well give Bollywood a new pairing.
While the round of speculation continues, the insider says, "Whether it would be Priyanka, Deepika, some other leading lady or a newcomer would be known in a few days from now. Just wait and watch."
Well, we are waiting for sure.

Deepika visits temple with Siddharth Mallya
What is cooking between actress Deepika Padukone and liquor baron Vijay Mallya's son Siddharth? As it still remains a riddle for all, Headlines Today spotted the duo visiting Mallya's family temple in Goa giving more fodder for gossip.
Deepika was seen with Siddharth praying and chanting mantras at Mahalasa Naryani Temple. Probably, it was their first visit together to a temple. However, whether they are just being spiritual or there is something more to it, remains to be seen.
However, despite dropping so many hints, none of them has officially admitted their affair publicly. Recently, the duo shared the stage at the lounge party of Kingfisher calendar 2011.
They got so close to each other at the event that media was left to make wild guesses about their relationship once again. Though it was actor Salman Khan who launched it this year, Deepika had the privilege of launching the 2010 calendar.

Deepika Padukone: Her physical pain a la Katrina Kaif
Remember how the delicate Katrina Kaif had developed a muscular pain after she pulled a muscle on her stomach some time back while shooting the item number ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ from Tees Maar Khan.
Looks like now our leggy lass Deepika Padukone has got bitten by the Katrina bug. She is suffering from some pain these days and we are not talking a heart ache resulting out of some betrayal by Ranbir Kapoor.
Actually, it all transpired while Deepika was shooting for her item number for the upcoming Bollywood film ‘Dum Maro Dum.’ The RD Burman song has been remixed by Pritam who has lent it a faster version. Therefore, Deepika had to match the fast pace of the song by putting in some fast moves.
Days of rehearsal and then 3 days of filming took so many tolls on her body that she could barely walk out of sheer pain. Reportedly, she felt so much discomfort that she was in need of a physiotherapist on the sets itself.
The item number has been grabbed by Deepika after she elbowed past the likes of Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. And the choreographers Bosco and Caesar, surely, kept her on her feet throughout.
She later stated to the media later that she was in extreme pain but flashed her million dollar smile and reassured all that she would soon be back to her best.

Amitabh Bachchan has a new daughter – Deepika Padukone
Amithabh Bachchan has son far made his appearances in ‘Koffee with Karan’ with either his wife and actress Jaya Bachchan or their son Abhishek or with co-star Shah Rukh Khan. But this time the buzz is that at KJo’s talk show Big B will be accompanied by daughter Shweta Nanda. While Shweta will be taking the couch with dad in the small screen, soon Deepika Padukone will be preparing to take the role of Big B’s daughter for the big screen.
According to sources of NDTV Movies, the ace director Prakhash Jha has zeroed down to Deepika Padukone to play the role of Mr. Bachchan’s daughter in the film ‘Aakarshan’. Previusly Jha was considering to auditon and take a new face for the role of Amitabh’s daughter but as the role was started to flesh out, the director could not think of anyone else but Padukone.
Soon the unit will move to Bhopal to start shooting for the film. It is the same place where Prakash Jha shot his last superhit film ‘Raajneeti’ Deepika’s ex-boyfriend Ranbir and alleged nemesis Katrina Kaif. One of the primary reasons for Jha casting Deepika in the role of Amitabh’s daughter is that she is tall and would match the iconic actor as his daughter. Well, one hopes that it will work a magic on-screen and an intesrting film that most of Jha’s films promises to be.

Deepika Padukone in extreme pain!
Bollywood leading lady Deepika Padukone is in extreme pain these days. No, she is not nursing a broken heart over boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor dumping her, it is her hard work which is causing the leggy lass a lot of pain. According to reports in the media, Deepika Padukone was in need of a physiotherapist on the sets of upcoming Bollywood film Dum Maro Dum after her muscles refused to budge from the strain that they had to go through for a period of six days. Reports claim that it became impossible for Deepika Padukone to even stand straight on her feet after shooting for her upcoming item number was over.
The actress had reportedly mastered the moves for the remixed version of the R D Buman composed track Dum Maro Dum for a period of three days under the guidance of choreographers Bosco and Caesar. Post rehearsal, Deepika Padukone had to film the song for another three days. And the constant pressure of dancing, the difficult moves involved in the promotional track of the upcoming film, left her muscles strained. Dips was in so much pain that only medical help could bring her back to normal conditions.
Deepika Padukone has clinched the item number over her peer Katrina Kaif and seniors Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, therefore the extra effort was required to bring out the stylish performance required for the promotional video of ‘Dum Maro Dum’. Sources from the film’s sets have said that Pritam’s remix is a very fast paced number which has to be accompanied with equally fast moves. In a statement to the media, Dips said that she did feel pain while shooting but also flashed her beautiful smile assuring the media that they were not going to miss her for long.

Physiotherapist for Deepika please!
Yet another B-town hottie is about to jump into the bandwagon. After Munni and Sheila, it’s Deepika Padukone’s turn to sizzle on screen. The actor recently wrapped up shooting for the remixed version of Dum maaro dum for Rohan Sippy’s movie by the same name. And the dancing was so strenuous that by the end of the schedule, she required the services of a physiotherapist to help her relax her muscles.
While Sippy finished shooting the film about a month ago, only this song was remaining to be shot for want of a suitable star. After considering stars like Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra, Sippy opted for Padukone to shake a leg in Pritam’s remixed version of the RD Burman original from Hare Rama Hare Krishna. The original was picturised on Zeenat Aman and the new adaptation couldn’t be any less scorching.
After signing on for the number, Padukone rehearsed for three days under the guidance of choreographer duo Bosco-Caesar. The set, with a rural backdrop, was created at Mehboob Studio in Bandra, where the actor shot the song for another three days. However, despite her routine workouts, Padukone was so stressed by the end of the shoot that she could barely keep to her feet, reveals a source associated with the film.
Sippy, who’s also producing the film in association with Fox Star Studios, arranged for a physiotherapist for the actor. Confirming the news, Sippy says that the song, Dum maaro dum, is a fast-paced number. “The brief was energy, and more energy. The entire song is not just dancing, but also a good mix of grooves and moves. If it involved only hardcore dance moves, Deepika would have had to rest for a couple more days,” he says.
As for Padukone, she feels great to do some stretches. “I’m doing a pure dance number after a considerable time. I’m sure that in a couple of days, with the help of yoga, I’ll be fit and fine as always,” she asserts.

Deepika Padukone made director of the Olympic Gold Quest
Actress Deepika Padukone is following her dad and former badminton champion Prakash Padukone’s footsteps. For the first time, a Bollywood actor has been made a director of the Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) — the biggest apex support group for Indian athletes and sportspersons founded by billiards champ Geet Sethi and Prakash Padukone. The other members of the board are eminent sports people like Leander Paes, Vishwanathan Anand and former India hockey captain like Viren Rasquinha among others.
Deepika dreamt of being a badminton champ like her dad once, but gave it up for midway. She admits that had it not been for the faulty infrastructure, she might have continued with the sport.
“I used to be a (badminton) player myself, so I know what the athletes have to go through (in terms of infrastructure and coaching). I always felt that there is a need to create a proper infrastructure and support group for the Indian athletes. I had wanted to do something myself but then this opportunity came along,” says Deepika.
Through the OGQ, Deepika will be collecting and mobilising funds for the athletes who have a big chance to bring home a medal at the 2012 Olympic Games to be held in London. Tennis champ Saina Nehwal, boxing champ MC Marykom and shooters Gagan Narang and Tejaswita Sawant are the sportspersons who are being supported by the OGQ for the next Olympics.
“I know being a part of such an effort is a huge responsibility and I am feeling mature for sure. I feel that one must do something to improve the facilities and infrastructure for the Indian athletes. I will do my best to ensure better facilities to the Indian athletes since they need our support and attention. I’m so happy that so many people have come forward to encourage the athletes like Gagan and Marykom who have struggled so much to make it to the top today,” she adds.
Deepika’s father Prakash was of course beaming with joy as a proud joy standing just beside her when Deepika was saying these words. According to him, today’s sportspersons of the country should get all the support that he never got when he was playing for the country.

Deepika Padukone partners with FashionAndYou.com for Olympic Gold Quest
Fashion and You and Deepika have partnered together to encourage India's quest for an Olympic gold. In a unique offer, members from across the country can bid for their favorite movie stars' personal possessions and help future Indian athletes achieve their dreams through Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ). FashionAndYou.com has put up Deepika Padukone's clothes from her personal closet up for auction.
OGC is a brainchild of Indian sporting legends Geet Sethi and Prakash Padukone with the aim of Olympic glory for India.
Deepika said, "I am delighted to share my wardrobe with my fans through e-retailers Fashion And You. Each and every ensemble and hand bag are my prized possession and I have very fond memories of them. I am very certain that my fans would love to own them and join me as a fashion diva this season. Fashion And You has embarked on a very noble cause of utilizing the proceeds of this Auction Platform to a charitable foundation, which is in the larger interest of the society. The funds from the auction would support Olympic Gold Quest a foundation for promoting sports talent in the country, which is very close to me".
"We are proud to showcase and auction the personal collection of the gorgeous Deepika Padukone! It's great to be associated with OGQ and promote sports talent in India. We look forward to the auction and partnering with India's style icon Deepika Padukone and to pave the road for an Olympic Gold" added FashionAndYou.com chief executive officer Pearl Uppal.
