From Socha Na Tha to Jab We Met and his soon to be released Love Aaj Kal, his ambitious take on the classic romantic era of the 1960’s and today’s 2009 Imtiaz Ali leaves a unique stamp on conventional genres when it comes to defining an original voice in films today.
Love Aaj Kal looks like it is an unapologetic work of a visionary filmmaker with his own unique style who is completely happy with this task accomplished. The film is supposed to be thrilling, heart pounding and cinematically exquisite.
While talking to the media on his understanding of Love, Imtiaz says, “Love is something that I don’t understand. It’s an inappropriate word.”
The director, who also owes Jab We Met to his credit, believes that he puts in his best in each project that he undertakes and the same has happened with this film.
Commenting about Deepika Padukone, the actress of his film Love Aaj Kal, director says that the girl has impressed him a lot. He feels that Deepka has a sense of silence and innocence in her which is of the same nature as Meera, the character she plays in the film.
“Deepika has impressed me completely because of her synergy with the character she plays, just like how Kareena impressed me while she played Geet”, says Imtiaz Ali.
