Farhan Akhtar proposes Deepika Padukone in the rain

Karthik Calling Karthik, which stars the unusual pair of Farhan Akhtar and gorgeous Deepika Padukone in the lead, also marks the debut of writer-director Vijay Lalwani.

Writing is Vijay Lalwani’s first love and so perfect is he at that, that the script of Karthik Calling Karthik was flawless, up until the climate forced him to alter a scene in the film. Yes you did read right, Vijay had to change just one part of the story due to weather!

Speaking on the re-written scene Vijay explains, “We shot the entire film as per the script, expect one scene which I had to re-write. The scene was when Farhan Akhtar was to propose Deepika Padukone; it was a very integral part of the film.”

Vijay continues, “I knew that I had to shoot that scene in a very grand way with loads of sunshine and it had to be an outdoor shot, but because it was June it was pouring… So, we thought to shoot the scene in October, but when we started shooting, it rained on that particular day so at the last moment we decided to shelve the plan and go ahead with the proposal in rain, that’s where I re-wrote the script.”

Looks like Vijay has really drained himself while writing the script of Karthik Calling Karthik (no pun). Going by the buzz for the movie it seems as a favorite among the youth who are eagerly awaiting its release on 26th February 2010.

When Deepika and Katrina met

At a shoot recently, leggy lass Deepika Padukone came face-to-face with barbie-doll Katrina Kaif. A site reports that both girls exchanged cold stares and then Katrina walked away, with her nose in the air.

 

Acknowledging each other was not on their agenda. Deepika was doing a magazine photo shoot in the open area of Mehboob Studio.

 

The site quotes a source: "Deepika had come with Farhan Akhtar for her shoot. Somewhere around late afternoon, Deepika was giving her solo shots in the garden area. While Deepika was doing her last minute touch-up, there was pin drop silence and all eyes swivelled to the entrance. It was Katrina, who had accidentally walked in, thinking it was the venue where she was called for her shoot."

 

Both had a few seconds of eye contact, and Kat turned away!

 

Remember Ranbir got really thick with Katrina Kaif while he was dating Deepika and as rumours have it Kat may have been the reason for their recent split.

After Ranbir, Deepika set to romance Neil

Deepika Padukone who's freshly broken off from Ranbir Kapoor is all set to romance Neil Nitin Mukesh in Yashraj next film.

Neil and Deepika have started rehearsing their characters for as long as a month and they are so excited that they can't wait for each other to join on the shoot.

When asked, Neil admitts the talk of rehearsal and said that he has known Deepika from the time she was in the relationship with her beau. He continued saying that they have been rehearsing rigrously for this film from last one month.

This is the Neil's second film with the banner after his hit 'New York' last year.

Deepika prefers night to day

Karthik Calling Karthik is already creating buzz for the first time ever on-screen pair Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone. Deepika instead of looking forward to the response is engrossed shooting for her another venture Housefull. In fact, she recently expressed her love for shooting during night time.

Tall and dusky beauty Deepika Padukone explains, “I love to shoot during night. I don’t mind shooting during daytime but I prefer nights for cool breeze.” Hope filmmakers out there listening to this diva and she is flooded with the scripts which demand night shoot.

Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone in ‘Break Ke Baad’

His first film as a producer Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic may have failed to create any magic at the B.O. but that hasn't deterred producer-director Kunal Kohli one bit. Kunal in fact has just announced his next film  called Break Ke Baad to be made under his own banner Kunal Kohli Productions in association with Reliance Big Pictures. Break Ke Baad stars Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone and will be directed by debutante director Danish Aslam.

Kunal Kohli the details, "Yes the next film we are making at Kunal Kohli Productions is Break Ke Baad. It's going to be directed by Danish Aslam who has been an assistant director on films like Fanaa, Salaam Namaste, and Ta Ra Rum Pum. The film stars Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles and is about a couple who have gone through a break-up."

The buzz is that the title Break Ke Baad had already been registered by a gentleman living in Bangalore. So were there any hassles in procuring the title? "No...we didn't have any hassles at all. The gentleman who had the title was very sweet and warm and when we told him how important it was for us to have that title, he readily agreed."

Break Ke Baad has music composed by Vishal- Shekhar. The film goes on floors in March this year and will be shot mainly in Delhi and Cape Town (South Africa).

I'm boring and single: Deepika Padukone

Ranbir who? There is no denying that Deepika Padukone has gotten over her break-up with the Kapoor lad with the pragmatism of a girl who knows her mind and would rather not waste her emotions. And she says that she won’t talk about Ranbir on her birthday - or any other day.

Deepika’s birthday this year could well have been a disaster, not because it happened just after her break-up, but because just the night before, she came down with viral fever. Nose clogged, head heavy, feeling feverish, she brought in her birthday sleeping in her bedroom, after an early night. “What to do?” she sighed. “I’m boring and single.”

But on her birthday (January 5), she was up to participate in Abhishek Bachchan’s new game show with Farhan Akhtar. “I couldn’t afford to take the day off - too much work. And the release of Karthik Calling Karthik is around the corner on February 26. Besides, I got to spend my birthday with two of my most entertaining co-stars, Abhishek and Farhan.”

However, rumours about her closeness to Farhan both annoy and embarrass her. “My rapport with all my co-stars is great on the sets. But that’s where it ends. I don’t socialise with any of them. Abhishek kept us in splits in Goa during Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se, but we didn’t meet after work. It was the same with Farhan. We had a great time working on Karthik Calling Karthik,” she says.

Getting slightly agitated, Deepika continues, “Farhan is a married man with children. I can’t enjoy this kind of gossip. People think they can say what they like because I don’t say anything. But silence in my case is not acceptance of any rubbish said and written about me.”

But is it a fact that she is suddenly doing more films than ever before because she’s using work as a balm for her wounded heart. The actress’ laughter reverberates. “I’m doing no such thing. Yes, I’ve signed three new films with Ashutosh Gowariker, Pradeep Sarkar and Danish Aslam. I’d have signed these three films even if they came to me a year back. Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se is my first period film. I’ve learnt so much from its director, Ashutosh Gowariker. He’s sorted out and clear-headed about what he wants from his actors.”

Deepika Padukone celebrates a lonely birthday

It was D day for the glamorous actress Deepika Padukone yesterday (5 January, 2010). But our favorite dimple queen was all alone at her place!

Our reliable source informs, “Deepika Padukone turned 23 yesterday (5 January, 2010). But the lovely actress spent her special day alone at her place with her immediate family members around. There was no birthday bash at her residence and none of her close friends in the tinsel town came in to wish her.”
