I’ll only wear an Indian designer: Deepika

Deepika Padukone saree

There are times when actors have no choice, but to opt out of international appearances due to prior commitments to work. But when actor Deepika Padukone requested filmmaker Prakash Jha for a four-day break from the shoot of his forthcoming film Aarakshan in Bhopal, he couldn’t refuse.

Reason: She wanted some time off to attend the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos. She will represent India dressed in an Indian designer’s creation at the event.

But many do wonder what the actor would say at the forum, which is primarily committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

However, Padukone is attending the India Inclusive campaign, as India is the focus of the Forum this year. Though she has not prepared a speech as yet, she will talk about, “How India’s rich and diverse culture too has contributed to the stupendous growth of our country’s economy.” She adds, “It’s a huge honour to represent our country and be part of this very significant forum.”

It is learnt that apart from walking the red carpet and attending the gala dinner, the actor will also be interacting with world leaders and representing the country.

As part of the India Inclusive campaign, people from different parts of the country will take the gathering on a fascinating journey across India and its cultural diversity. And for the evening event, Padukone has chosen to dress in a Manish Malhotra creation.

A friend of the actor revealed that she had the choicest of designers to pick from, “But Deepika chose to wear an Indian designer to represent our country and specifically asked Manish for an appropriate outfit,” explained her friend.

Padukone confirmed, “I was very clear in my mind, that since I’m representing our country, I’ll wear something that is not only made by an Indian designer, but also reflects our craftsmanship in its full glory. And I must say that Manish has done a fabulous job in creating such a wonderful outfit.”

Saif Ali Khan comforts Deepika Padukone!

Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone looks energetic, cheerful and confident in films but in real life, she is not. It is said that she was extremely nervous while shooting for Prakash Jha's film Aarakshan at a college in Bhopal.

“Bhopal is foreign territory for Deepika. She hasn't shot for a film in the city before. Also, working with Jha was a first-time experience for her. His style of working is very different from the directors she's worked with in the past," Mid-Day quoted a source as saying.

It was the huge crowd that made the actress nervous. “Deepika reached the production area, which was in the backyard of the college. Not many students had come in. The crowd was just about trickling in. In matter of couple of hours, the place was packed with students and everyone had gathered to see her shoot,” added the source.

However, the actress looked much more comfortable when Saif Ali Khan came to the sets to shoot his portions. She was even spotted interacting with the students of the college by the end of the day.

Well, Deepika might have surely stolen many hearts of the students!

Deepika Padukone: Will her schedule force her to miss the Rajnikanth train?

Deepika Padukone wallpaper, cleavage

Deepika Padukone might not have time to hear the script offered by Kalpana Lajmi on the basis of having a very tight schedule. Now it seems that her schedule will force her to miss the opportunity to act with the South Indian superstar, Rajnikanth. Deepika is a huge fan of the actor and is quite honored to be offered the opportunity to act opposite Rajnikanth.

Rajnikanth is considered as a demigod in South of India and his last flick with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was ‘Robot’ in Hindi and ‘Enthiran’ in Tamil version and it went on to become a roaring success. While Aishwarya had the chance to act with one Rajnikanth, the ‘Om Shanti Om’ actress has the chance work with two of the superstars as he is going to have double role in the flick.

In spite of fitting the role in the lead to the T, and having a good meeting with the producers of the film, Deepika is still in a huge dilemma, as she doesn’t have dates. Now the leggy actress is trying hard to work a way pout and squeeze some dates out from her already chock-a-block schedule for the film with Rajni Sir.

Unfortunately for Deeps the makers of the Rajnikant movie wants the film to start rolling this year, but the 25year old actress has film like ‘Aakarshan, a new project with Saif Ali Khan, ‘Desi Boys’ and couple of other films too.

Deepika slams door on directors’ face

Deepika Padukone wallpaper

Deepika Padukone is being showered with film offers these days. Although she has a tight schedule she should at least listen to her directors before turning down their offer.

She had turned down Kalpana Lajmi’s film. A source stated “Lajmi called up Deepika’s secretary who told her in the first call that Deepika won’t do the film since she had no dates. Lajmi was willing to wait till Deepika had dates but was shocked at her secretary’s
refusal.”

Two months later Lajmi contacted Deepika’s secretary and was disappointed to learn that Deepika had turned down the offer stating that she is busy till 2012.

Lajmi stated “I was ready to wait till Deepika was free. It is sad that today’s heroines are busy only in image-building exercises. They forget that it is the medium of cinema and nothing else that makes them popular.”

To this Deepika’s manager replied “We would love to work with a senior director like Lajmi but unfortunately, there are only 365 days in a year.”

He said, “We had committed our dates. Hence we decided to be upfront about it and not keep her hanging.”

Deepika compensated for hanging out with Siddharth

Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Mallya wallpaper

Earlier we reported that actress Deepika Padukone has purchased a 16 crores four bed roomed apartment with three parking slots in BeauMonde Towers, Prabhadevi. This news can be simply interpreted by understanding that the actress has started planning for her future and is investing her money for the safer life.

But ladies and gentlemen, there is a totally surprising angle to the old story. Reportedly, the actress has been totally compensated for her hangout sessions with the son of Indian liquor baron Siddharth Mallya for long. The recent news suggests that the 16 crores flat is a luxurious gift from beau Siddharth to the leggy lass Deepika Padukone.

The flat is close to the most celebrated Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai. While Deepika was lucky to get the expensive and luxurious gift from her to be claimed friend Siddharth, the actress continues to stay in her old apartment at Pali Hills with her family.

Hmm!! Well, Deepika will you still say that this gesture of Siddharth shows an “only friend” kind of relationship between you guys?

Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor: Accidental meet behind the sets

Ranbir Kapoor wallpaper

Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor are two of the most talked about stars in B town when it comes to tattoos or relationships fallen apart.

The two can somehow never go beyond that fact of their lives no matter how hard they try.

Thus, if Ranbir Kapoor was just on his way out of the chat show Koffee with Karan after going through Karan’s direct questions on his relationship with Deepika gone sour, then it was Deepika Padukone who was just walking in on the sets of the Mumbai television studio to get grilled by Karan for the same show albeit for a fresh new episode, when the two happened to bump into each other bang on!

According to news reports, there was quite a formals exchange of words between the two and a tad bit of awkward hesitations on Deepika’s front, but sources reveal that Ranbir was as calm and composed as ever.

With a lot of speculations going around about how hurt Deepika still is regarding the sudden split with Ranbir, it is also being said that she is now almost getting over with it as her new found beau Siddharth Mallya is giving her great company.

The two are spotted at most events together as a cozy twosome, creating more media speculations. Ranbir Kapoor on the other hand denies being into any kind of relationship with anyone these days. On the show Koffee with Karan, he point blankly went on to say that the stories going around about Katrina Kaif and him were totally baseless.

Well whatever be their current relationship status, this accidental meet of the two really had everyone present there quite clueless as to what next?

Deepika to act with Rajnikanth

Rajinikanth wallpaper

Though overwhelmed with the offer of a film opposite the South superstar, the actress has no dates to give the film's producers as of now

After making her debut with SRK and working with all the top actors in Bollywood, Deepika Padukone is headed to conquer the South. She has now been offered a film opposite none other than superstar Rajnikanth.

Deepika had a meeting with the makers of this film last week and she loved the script. Deepika, who happens to be a huge fan of Rajnikanth's, finds herself in a big dilemma though: her date diaries are saturated.

She is now trying to figure out how to commit to this film. Apparently, the actress is extremely keen on working with him, despite her choc-a-bloc schedule.

Our source said, "Deepika has been offered the film and a meeting with its producers also went off well. The film has Rajnikanth in a double role. The makers felt that Deepika was perfect for the lead role and that she would fit the character very well.

Unfortunately, the producers of the film want to take it on floors this year and Deepika has her hands full with Aarakshan, Desi Boys and a new film with Saif Ali khan to be directed by Homi Adajania apart from a few other projects.

Now she is trying hard to adjust her dates so she doesn't miss out on a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with Rajnikanth."

When contacted, Deepika Padukone said, "I am really honoured to be approached to act with Rajnikanth."

The actress's spokesperson however was quick to add, "We have been approached but it is too early to talk about it. We need to work on dates as many films are in combination with a lot of senior actors. It is not an easy decision. Of course we would like to be part of Rajnikanth's film. It is a huge honour."

Of course, refusing Rajnikanth has its own consequences. Just kidding, Deepika!

Deepika upsets Kalpana Lajmi

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone's year may be choc-a-bloc with films but she should at least hear out directors before slamming the door on them.

A few days ago, Deepika rejected Kalpana Lajmi's film without once talking to her, forget reading the script.

Lajmi, the director of Rudaali (1993), whose last film Chingaari, starring Sushmita Sen hit the theatres in 2006, has been struggling for quite some time to put a project together.

A source says, "Lajmi called up Deepika's secretary who told her in the first call that Deepika won't do the film since she had no dates. Lajmi was willing to wait till Deepika had dates but was shocked at her secretary's refusal."

Two months after Lajmi spoke to Deepika's secretary, the actress texted her saying that she can't do her film, as she is not free until 2012. "The message was polite. But Lajmi is wondering why an actress would turn a film down even before speaking to the director," adds the source.

When contacted, Lajmi said, "I was ready to wait till Deepika was free. It is sad that today's heroines are busy only in image-building exercises. They forget that it is the medium of cinema and nothing else that makes them popular."

Though the actress stayed out of this, her manager said, "We would love to work with a senior director like Lajmi but unfortunately, there are only 365 days in a year. We had committed our dates. Hence we decided to be upfront about it and not keep her hanging."

The mean girls!

Deepika Padukone

IT happened a decade ago.A popular female star in Bollywood, who had several hits with Shah Rukh Khan, was nasty to journalists and extremely rude on sets. But what the world saw was a different woman a cherubic actress onscreen and sweettalker at awards functions.

Cut to the present. Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, fresh-faced girls barely out of their teens, take Bollywood by storm with their to-hell-with-the-world attitude. In one clean swipe, the giggly girls bare their fangs on those who suck or piss them off. Polite sweet nothings, anyone

Enter, the bitch brigade, that's redefining the term bad girl with a vengeance! They are chic, tempestuous, stimulating and sexy. They organise raunchy hen parties and bond over whiskey. They use cuss words and warn the world not to mess with them. And they don't mind being labelled a bitch.

Is it time to embrace a new creed that breaks the stereotypical black and white with grey female characters in control of their sexuality Ad woman Preeti Vyas works in a world where a woman has to take on a machoistic entity. The gender lines are getting blurred as society moves towards a more androgynous unit. With women donning male roles, theres a sense of heightened confidence in female sexuality. Call it unnatural, but the girl bonding is breaking all boundaries and taboos.

Even seasoned actresses like Rani Mukherji and Vidya Balan shocked the daylights out of cynics when they got touchy-feely while promoting their movie. Says an onlooker,The vibes they passed were almost sensual. They looked complete almost like a couple! Good girls finish last, quips Angona Dutta, editor of a Kolkata-based youth magazine. Everybody's gotten a little tired of being told to be nice. Celebs behave virtuous, magazines tell us about the virtues of femininity. In general, we were told to be grateful for what we have and be accommodating.

These no-nonsense, comehither girls may be an antithesis in the face of the docile, sacrificial pushover woman. But how much of the tough act is a faade to survive in a male dominated society Mumbai based freelance photographer Mandakini has six tattoos,is a veteran in her field, and doesnt mince words. She explains the mentality of the bitch brigade, Dont get us wrong.

Even if we sound cruel, its a way of telling people where exactly they stand in the world. What we believe is that there are other ways which measure how much power you have to intimidate people around you. Sugar and spice isn't always nice. But we all know that being ballsy does not mean loud and foul (Dolly Bindra is an example).Reality TV star Pravesh Rana, who has starred in several shows featuring bitches, has this to say, Theres a thin line between feisty and blas.

A loud woman definitely lacks confidence because her behaviour screams for attention. A truly liberated woman can be wild and wacky in terms of the way she dresses, talks and behaves, but shed be attractive because of the fact that she knows her mind and has strength of character. While this new creed walks the tightrope between being intimidating and independent, the question is how accepting society is of them. Says a Delhi-based senior journalist, The bitch attitude puts me off. So much in-your-face attitude can kill the subtlety thats needed for relationships.

Model Zulfikar says, Any extreme is a turnoff. Whether you are the super aggressive sort or the dreamy, shy type, extreme behaviour signals insecurity. On the contrary, there is nothing more attractive than a woman who has dignity and pride in who she is. Its interesting how the age-old war between the sexes has now transgressed into a bad girl versus good girl tussle. Clinical psychologist Jitendra Nagpal explains the shift, Men seem to go for someone smarter, sassier and sexier. They want a partner who lives by her own rules. But many would see this as part of an evolution process. Says Dr Ashum Gupta of Delhi University, The new brigade of girls would not bow down to old ideals of suffering silently. Their newfound confidence manifests at times in brash behaviour.

Eighteen-year-old reality TV actor Manvi does not believe in conforming to any set standards. She and her girl friends compete with guys on the number of tattoos, drinks and cuss words. They want a home, marriage and kids at what time and with whom, they decide. But they wont let a man decide these things for them. Girls score more grades than guys, they can drive and explore the world on their own. They are breaking glass ceilings in the corporate world. Then why should we be demure Today, there are Manvis all over at nightclubs, changing rooms and on social networking sites. They aspire to be like Priyanka Chopra's character in Kaminey, Vidyas in Ishqiya and Rani's in No One Killed Jessica. What these girls portray is a fun, fearless femme fatale. Hope its the same person when we scratch the surface!

Deepika, Shahid's Heer Ranjha shelved?

Shahid Kapoor

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala's Heer Ranjha is unlikely to go on floors. As things stand today, the Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer is almost shelved.

Sabir Khan, who was supposed to direct Heer Ranjha is still working with Nadiadwala but on a different film, which will most probabbly have Shahid playing the lead but Deepika is not a part of this.

Rumour has it that Deepika was not too keen on acting in Heer Ranjha. Shall we assume she is not as friendly with Shahid as she was a few months ago?

A friend of Nadiadwala's stood up for him and said, "Deepika was never in the project. Sajid is still doing Sabir's film; he is reworking its script."

In that case, why did Sabir tell a section of the media about Deepika being paired with Shahid in his film? Reportedly, Sabir had said, "I don't think it really makes a difference if the leading lady is taller than the hero... any heroine, no matter how tall she is, is keen to work with Aamir Khan. Dippy (as Deepika is fondly called) has agreed to do the film. I think Shahid and she make a great pair. They've never been paired before."

A source very close to the film confirmed and said, "Heer Ranjha is not happening, at least not with Shahid and Deepika together. Right now, Sabir is writing something new."

Siddharth Mallya to turn producer for Deepika Padukone

Siddharth Mallya

Deepika Padukone's speculated beau Siddharth Mallya is all set to start his own production house. Hmm!! well looks like dating an actress from the B-town has finally influenced Junior Mallya to take on to the film business.

Reports suggests that by the beginning of the next year the Kingfisher boy will be all set to launch the film production house. He is now looking into the details of the film making process and is getting together a team of all talented people who will help him with the production.

A source from the tabloid Mid Day revealed that, “Sid loves watching movies and is very excited at the prospect of launching a banner. He's wanted to do this for a long time, but having Deepika by his side has boosted his confidence. His business skills have primarily been towards his father's group of industries, but now he wants to expand their existing areas of work and add a film company."

Hmm!! guess it is properly said that there is always a woman behind a successful man. Here is it, Deepika behind the successful brains and confidence of Siddharth Mallya. The source from Mid Day adds that this is not any kind of time pass hobby for Siddharth, rather he is very serious about film making.

Hope, we will soon see Deepika working under (beau or not beau) Siddharth Mallya's production banner.

Deepika Padukone – Sonam Kapoor: Got new passport checkers

Kangana Ranaut

It seems the Bollywood actresses are being bitten by the passport checking bug. After Deepika Padukone wanting to see Katrina Kaif’s passport to check her age at the talk show ‘Koffee with Karan’, it’s now the turn of ‘Om Shanti Om’ actress’ turn to show the passport.

Deepika’s passport has been demanded by none other than Kangana Ranaut. The actress well known for playing roles that gives the creeps to the audience with the authentic display of the on-screen characters. Kangana wants to see the passport of not only Deepika but also Sonam Kapoor and wants to know their real age.

Deepika and Sonam both are 25 and have never hidden their age, on the other hand Kangana is 23 but would like to believe that she is much more younger than the other two leggy beauties of the B’town. It is not known yet why suddenly the curly haired actress is taking digs at Sonam and Deepika when all three are doing quite well for themselves, without anyone of them stepping into the other’s shoes.

So does that mean the ‘Raaz 2’ actress knows something more than the media or has Deepika and Sonam irked Kangana in some ways that the media still does not know about? But whatever it is, checking passport of other actresses is catching on really well in Bollywood.

Ranbir not upset anymore - Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor

B-Town actress Deepika Padukone, who had made some spicy comments on philandering ways of her ex-Ranbir Kapoor last year on KJo’s chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’ along with Sonam Kapoor, recently said in an interview that Ranbir is no longer upset with her due to the incident.

“Ranbir is not hurt anymore. We have reached a stage where we have forgiven each other and hold no grudges.” said Deepika, who had started dating Ranbir after meeting him on the sets of film ‘Bachna Aye Haseeno’ in 2008.

However, their relationship did not last longer and they separated in 2009, amid rumors of Ranbir’s unfaithfulness.

The 25-year-old actress, who had started her Bollywood career in 2007 alongside Shahrukh Khan with ‘Om Shanti Om,’ added that all bitter past experiences no longer matters to her or Ranbir and they are on friendly terms with each other now.

Media blew the incident out of proportion
The A-List actress, who had invited Ranbir’s father Rishi Kapoor's ire after the comment-episode, said that the entire incident was blown out of proportion by media.

In her defense, Deepika further added that even Ranbir had made some comments about her when he had appeared on Karan’s show. But she had not retaliated as she believes everyone including her has the right to voice their emotions.

When asked, if she avoids friends that she and Ranbir had in-common after breakup, Deepika said, avoiding them would mean shunning the entire group of her friends as they have "same group of friends' and she’s not ready for something so drastic.

She added, contrary to media reports, she’s friends with Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor also.

Deepika ready to work with Ranbir
So would she be signing a film opposite Ranbir, if opportunity presents itself?

On this, Deepika made it clear that she has no issues and would love to work with Ranbir, if given a chance, as she firmly believes in keeping personal and professional lives apart.

“Yes, we can work again. I see no problems about it,” said Deepika, who’ allegedly dating industrialist Vijay Mallya’s son Siddharth Mallya.

Asin - Deepika Padukone And I Are Good Friends

Asin Thottumkal

"There is a myth that actresses don't get along well but there is no truth in it. I have a lot of friends in the industry. Deepika Padukone and I are good friends. We share an extremely cordial relationship. I am also friends with Sonam Kapoor and director Farah Khan. I have friends in the South too. I value friendship a lot," says Asin. Her latest film Kaavalan, co-starring Vijay, released on Saturday and has won good reviews from the media.

So has Asin forgotten Telugu cinema? "Not really, I'm just waiting for the right film to fall in the right league." Kiss... which kiss?

Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Mallya

Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Mallya are a ‘couple’, but there’s nothing official about it yet. The mention of industrialist Vijay Mallya’s son only elicits a dazzling smile on her face, despite the fact that a video that captures the two kissing is available on YouTube. That gets eyebrows shooting
up, “I don’t know of any such kiss,” says the actor.

Deepika recently irked ex-boyfriend actor Ranbir Kapoor’s father Rishi Kapoor, with some of her comments on the TV chat show Koffee With Karan. But Deepika says everything is cool between the parties. “Ranbir also said certain things about me on Karan’s show; I’ve not taken them to heart. I don’t think he is upset either. Our friendship will not be affected by what other people believe we should or should not say.”

Has she sorted out her differences with Rishi? “I never had any differences with anyone,” she says.

Ranbir Kapoor is not hurt anymore: Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone

There was a time when actress Deepika Padukone would instantly clam up at the mere mention of actor and former flame Ranbir Kapoor. But there’s been a change. Padukone on Thursday night, at the venue of the Zee Cine Awards in Singapore, appeared calm, confident and raring to go. And the demeanour didn’t change even at the mention of her ex beau.

“Me, Imran, Ranbir, Sonam…we have all started in Bollywood at about the same time. And even though we are contemporaries, we are friends first.Besides, Ranbir and I belong to the same group of friends. And you cannot shun your group of friends just because of your relationship status, isn’t it?” she asks.

Padukone says that both she and Kapoor understand and hold no grudges against each other anymore.

But what about the nasty comments that she and Sonam made on the actor on a chat show? “Ranbir is not hurt anymore. We have reached a stage where we have forgiven each other and hold no grudges. After a point, we (she and Ranbir) had a good laugh over it. Yes, we had our differences at one point of time and now that’s not there. We are friends now and friends are allowed to take liberties with each other,” she says.

She says that she is also not averse to doing a film with Kapoor as she feels that a career decision should always take precedence over matters of the heart. “Yes, we can work again. I see no problems about it. At the end of the day, there are a handful of actors in Bollywood and nobody can say that he or she won’t work with the other person. I will never say something like that,” she says.

Talking about her career, with a hit like Housefull and a huge flop like Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se, Padukone says that each has been a learning experience for her. “I know that critics have labelled it (Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se) as a huge flop but trust me, the experience that I had while shooting for the film is also incomparable. I felt sad that the movie didn’t do well as we expected but I got to know so much about our country’s history. The experience of working with Ashutosh (Gowariker) has been worth it,” she ends.

I’m not working only to reach the top, says Deepika

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone states that she is not in the rat race. She started her New Year with a bang by spending a vacation and then celebrating her birthday with her family and partner Siddharth Mallya.

After trying her hands in scuba-diving and sky-diving last year, she is now willing to try her hands at bunjee jumping.

The dimpled beauty states “I have always wanted to do this and I honesty didn’t think it would happen within a month from each other. Though I am petrified of heights, I have no clue how I managed to do the sky dive. Next up on my list is a bungee jump.”

Always pitted against actresses such as Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, Deepika states that being the number one heroine in the film industry is not the only criteria that interests her.

She added “As for reaching the top — everybody aims to be there someday but I am not working only to reach to the top.”

“For me, the first criteria is the credibility of a brand. It has to be something I identify with and believe in.”

Deepika's kiss of love for Siddharth

Deepika Padukone with Siddharth Mallya

Though Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Mallya, the son of liquor king Vijay Mallya, have always denied having an affair, a recent incident where Deepika kissed Siddharth openly has brought out their love for each other in public.

Deepika, who is perfectly at ease doing kissing scenes in movies, seems to be at the same ease kissing in real life as well.

"I am comfortable doing kissing scenes," she had said some time ago. "Are you telling me that people in relationships just hold hands?"

Kissed him before her parents
Deeps visited her birth place Copenhagen with her family in order to celebrate the New Year as well as her 25th birthday on Jan. 5.

Siddharth was there to surprise her with a lavish birthday bash by reaching Copenhagen just a day before her birthday.

Overwhelmed with the surprise he had planned for her, she went straight ahead to greet him with a tight hug and a kiss.

As per sources, Deepika did not think twice about kissing Siddharth in the presence of her parents.

However, what Junior Mallya gifted his lady love is not yet known.

In addition, both of them were caught romancing on the streets on Copenhagen too.

Siddharth asks deepika to bake him a cake
Though Deepika and Siddharth have never revealed what’s cooking between them, past incidences indicate that love is in the air.

Not long ago, Deepika had written on the micro-blogging site Twitter along with an oven snap a few days back, "Love this old fashioned industrial oven... Reminds me of the days when I would come back from school and bake chocolate cake for my mum!"

"Bake me a cake," pat came the reply from Siddharth.

Deepika Padukone with Siddharth Mallya
Deepika Padukone was so overwhelmed by emotion that she actually kissed Siddharth Mallya in front of her dad.

If talks are to be believed, it all happened on her birthday, January 5, as she was celebrating her special day in Copenhagen, New England, where she was born, when Siddharth Mallya - rumoured to be her beau - showed up at the door and joined the Padukones in making Deepika's day ultra special.

Deepika was stunned when she saw Siddharth there, and overcome with emotion she went and greeted him with a tight hug and kiss oblivious of anyone's presence around. It is heard that Papa Padukone witnessed this warm greeting.

About what 'good friend' Siddharth gifted the pretty girl, we don't quite know, but we guess that the surprise visit across the seas and over the mountains was gift enough.

Sonam awaiting Deepika's reply

Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone do not have any problems with each other. At least that's what has been conveyed to the world.

But we spotted something very interesting. Sonam has wished Deepika on her birthday (Jan 5) on a social networking site but hasn't received any reply from Deepika yet.

To Dip's defence, she was on a Europe tour and, of course, did not have time to reply to her. On her birthday she was in Copenhagen with her family and Sidhartha Mallya (that's the gossip!). But we are sure that Sonam is waiting for her reply. Let's see when that comes from Deepika's side.

Deepika to attend Imran's pre-wedding bash

Imran Khan and Avantika Malik

Bollywood heartthrob Imran Khan, who has kept his pre-wedding rituals a complete family affair, is expected to have his movie "Break-Ke Baad" co-star and friend actress Deepika Padukone to be part of the ceremony.

Imran is tying the knot with his childhood sweetheart Avantika Malik Jan 10.

"Being a Mehndi and Sangeet ceremony, it would be a complete family affair and no Bollywood actors are to be seen today (Saturday). Only Deepika, Imran's close friend, is expected to be part of the ceremony," said a statement by his publicist.

The family, which includes Imran's parents Anil Pal and Nuzhat Khan, uncle actor Aamir Khan with wife Kiran Rao and children Junaid and Ira, among others, would be present during the ceremony.

The ceremony would conclude with a night-long party, which would start at around 9 p.m.

Deepika Padukone has a mixed year

Housefull - Hit
Lafangey Parindey - Average
Break Ke Baad - Below average
Karthik Calling Karthik - Flop
Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey - Disaster

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone had a very mixed year. Before 2010, she had four films to her name in her entire career while now in a single year; she had as many as five releases. She experimented with her roles and left a mark in each of her outings. However, her only big success was Housefull. Films like Lafangey Parindey and Break Ke Baad proved though that this is one girl who has it in her to 'perform' as well rather than 'just look good'.

A perfect mix of beauty and talent, if there is one actress who is a serious contender to make her way to the top, it is Deepika Padukone.

Karan Johar walks into Deepika's house

Karan Johar
He came, he saw but, he just couldn't conquer! We are referring to the ironic situation of the VJ-turned actor Purab Kohli; despite having the gorgeous Deepika Padukone as his neighbour, he just couldn't get his feelings across to her. No, even before you can get into the layer of things, let us tell you that the aforementioned was the 'plot' of the ongoing Nescafe series.

Well, as they say, the plot gets thicker. And the thickness now lies in the fact that now besides Deepika, Purab will now be joined by none other than the master filmmaker Karan Johar, according to sources. It added that the trio has even shot for the ad that shows Karan walking into Deepika's house, even as Purab is trying hard to impress her. Despite knowing the fact that 'he' is Karan Johar, Purab pretends not to know him and hence starts asking him about his profession like 'Are you a badminton player?" etc...

With KJo joining the gang, sipping coffee (or is it 'Koffee' now?), will just get even more stimulating. What say, folks!

Deepika, Sidhartha at Copenhagen on her b'day

Deepika Padukone
For her 25th birthday today, Deepika Padukone has gone back to her roots. Literally! The actress, is celebrating the day at Copenhagen — the city she was born in.

She was just 11 months old when the Padukones returned to Bangalore. And Deepika, enthused by nostalgia for the historic European city, has returned there to trace her roots.

A friend revealed, "Deepika wants to visit the hospital where she was born, the house where her parents stayed, and also bond with old family friends still living in the Danish city. Her parents have fond memories of Copenhagen and Deepika wants them to relive these with her. So, Papa Prakash Padukone will be her guide on this tour."

Earlier, the Padukones celebrated Christmas in London. Sidhartha Mallya, who is supposedly seeing Deepika, joined them for New Year in the English capital. And he is likely to be with her in Copenhagen as well, today. Which is as romantic a birthday gift the young liquor baron could give the sexy actress as is possible. Deepika returns to Mumbai on Friday to attend the Imran Khan-Avantika Malik wedding over the weekend.

Happy birthday, Deepika Padukone!

Deepika Padukone
Deepika Padukone, the dusky beauty from Bangalore, turns 25 today.

The gorgeous Capricornian is on a backpacking trip through Europe along with her boyfriend Siddharth Mallya. The duo left for London to ring in 2011.

2010 was an eventful year for Deepika with as many as five releases: Karthik Calling Karthik, Housefull, Lafangey Parindey, Break Ke Baad and Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey. Sadly, only one of the five did good business at theatres, but Deepika says she had something to learn from every film.

But more admirable than anything is how she came to terms with her break-up from Ranbir Kapoor. Rather than being depressed, she immersed herself in work and made new friends, including Siddharth Mallya. Their budding friendship was to be seen during the IPL, when she cheered for Mallya’s team Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Later in the year, Deepika also sparked a controversy by saying on Koffee With Karan that her ex beau Ranbir should endorse a condom brand.

This year, she is looking at a few interesting roles, including one in Prakash Jha’s Aarakshan.

Never friends with Deepika: Sonam

Sonam Kapoor
Ever since Bollywood actors Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone got along on the TV chat show Karan Johar’s Koffee with Karan, their apparent friendship has been under constant scrutiny. However, Sonam says the two are only acquaintances.

“Deepika and I were never friends. It was just instant chemistry on the show. We have not kept in touch since then. Right now, I am in Chandigarh shooting for Mausam, and god only knows where she is.”

The actor, who is now shooting with actor Shahid Kapoor for Mausam, is all praises for her him. “Shahid is a Delhi boy settled in Mumbai, and he has taken the best from both the cities.”

Sonam says she joined Bollywood with a “bucket list of what i will not do”. One of her main commandments is that she will never dance at a wedding for money. “I can’t do it. I don’t judge actors who do, but I can never do it,” she says.

Deepika Padukone going on a New Year rendezvous with Siddharth Mallya

Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Mallya
Deepika Padukone might not have had a great year professionally, but she never ceases to be the center of the tabloids. It’s not because of her movies but her romantic life that she either had in the past or the present one. While she has been busy this year post her break-up with Ranbir Kapoor telling the world that Siddharth Mallya is nothing but a good friend, now this “good friend” and she is setting off to London to usher in the New Year.

The duo has planned to take a full on vacation in London and have already chalked out the plan of what they will do in UK. The list does not only include partying, shopping and bonding with friends but also plans of touring the countryside of UK. It seems the liquor heir and the sexy actress will have their hands full in this travel and a good bonding time away from the Indian paparazzi.

It would also be a nice time to celebrate for Deepika and put her past behind which includes the Ranbir Kapoor controversy and two back to back flops. Hopefully this bonding with Siddharth and travel to UK will help her to unwind and rejuvenate herself for the next year in Bollywood.
